The Problem
Car owners and mechanics in Eastern Nigeria faced significant challenges sourcing genuine automobile parts. The traditional approach involved visiting multiple physical stores, often without guarantee of part availability or authenticity. Counterfeit parts flooded the market, leading to vehicle damage and safety concerns. My client, Pamtech Autoparts, needed a comprehensive e-commerce platform to provide a trusted source for genuine auto parts while serving the entire Eastern Nigerian region efficiently.
My Approach
Built a specialized automotive e-commerce platform using Next.js 14 and TypeScript with a focus on performance and reliability. Implemented a comprehensive parts catalog with detailed categorization by vehicle make, model, year, and part type (engine parts, body parts, electrical components, brake systems, suspension, filters, oils, accessories, etc.). Created an intelligent search system allowing customers to find parts by vehicle specifications or part numbers. Integrated VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) decoder for accurate part matching. Built a vendor management system for suppliers with inventory tracking and automated low-stock alerts. Integrated Paystack for secure Nigerian payment processing. Developed a logistics module with real-time tracking integration for deliveries across Eastern Nigeria. Implemented a parts compatibility checker to ensure customers order correct parts for their vehicles. Created an admin dashboard with sales analytics, inventory management, and customer support tools. Used AWS S3 for high-resolution product images and technical diagrams.
The Result
Successfully launched as the biggest autoparts platform in Eastern Nigeria. Catalog now includes 15,000+ genuine automobile parts covering major vehicle brands. Serves 3,000+ registered customers including individual car owners, mechanics, and auto repair shops across Eastern Nigeria. Processed over ₦180 million in transactions within the first year. Reduced customer search time from hours to minutes with intelligent part-finding system. Achieved 98.5% part compatibility accuracy, significantly reducing returns. Platform handles 2,000+ daily visitors with 99.9% uptime. Delivery network covers all major cities in Eastern Nigeria with average 2-3 day delivery time. Customer satisfaction rating of 4.8/5 with 92% reporting improved ease of finding genuine parts. Successfully reduced counterfeit parts purchases in the region and became the go-to platform for automotive parts in Eastern Nigeria.
